Harvard Technology Products sales shutting down 10/31

[ FROM PARTNERS AND OTHER SOURCES ]
On Wednesday, October 1, Harvard announced to their community that they will be exiting the retail sales and services business and will be shutting down operations of Technology Products & Services on October 31, 2014.  For the past 25 years, we have depended upon TPS as the primary source for purchasing Macs, iPads, PC's and academic software.

Partners has initiated conversations with both Apple and with Harvard to discuss transition plans for Apple purchased in order to minimize the impact to the Partners and Hospital communities.  Here, at DFCI, Mike Russo is working with a number of vendors to see if there are other avenues by which we can obtain educational discounts.

Some of what we currently know:

  • Any orders currently in the system whether standard or customized configurations will be processed normally
  • Starting Monday 10/6, Harvard will only accept orders for standard in-stock items
  • Custom orders are not available from Harvard.  Beginning Monday, quote requests will need to be sent to our Apple inside sales representative.
  •  After 10/31, Partners and the Hospitals will no longer be able to purchase through Harvard with a Partners PO/eBuy request.
    •  e.g. Software titles such as Adobe will no longer be available for purchase from Harvard via Partners POs.
